UOSSM’s protection program aims to enhance the safety of at-risk populations in conflict zones, focusing on preventing and addressing rights violations. Special attention is given to vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities, the elderly, women, and children headed households, and widows.
UOSSM’s protection program offers a comprehensive range of services, it provides General Protection Services, including legal advice and representation, and protection monitoring. In Child Protection, our focus is on case management, psychosocial support, and raising awareness of children’s rights. Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention and Response initiatives involve case management and empowerment for women, along with efforts to raise awareness about sexual and gender-based violence. In Mine Action Activities, our role includes risk education for at-risk groups, contributing to our mission of fostering safety and security.
Encompass Child Protection with structured PSS and parenting skills programs, awareness campaigns, and specialized services. Community Protection involves psychosocial support, awareness activities, and referral pathway activation. Mine Action focuses on conducting risk education. General Protection services include integrated community-based protection, awareness-raising, psychosocial assistance, and targeted support for specific needs. GBV Prevention and Response includes psychosocial support, awareness campaigns, specialized services, and the distribution of dignity kits. Protection Monitoring identifies protection needs and risks.
UOSSM actively collaborates with UN agencies, clusters, and sub-clusters in Northwest Syria. Memberships include Protection Turkey cross borders, Child Protection sub-cluster, GBV sub-cluster, Mine Action sub-cluster, and others.
Future Plans
UOSSM’s future involve the establishment of primary healthcare centers, women and girls’ safe spaces, men and youth centers, and mobile protection units for integrated protection, health, and nutrition services. The organization aims to empower women by providing services through the creation of safe spaces and mobile units. Additionally, UOSSM seeks to expand child protection services through the implementation of child-friendly spaces, mobile units, and capacity-building initiatives targeting community leaders and support networks.
